Montana Home SearchAs shown on the Rebate Calculator, The United States Department of Justice is committed to helping preserve competition in the real estate industry through its competition advocacy efforts. Given that Montana now allows real estate brokers to provide rebates to consumers and to customize their real estate service offerings to meet their customers’ needs, the Department of Justice has not advocated that Montana change any of its real estate laws or regulations.

The Antitrust Division of the US Dept. of Justice helped preserve the benefits of free and open competition for Montana consumers. In August 2007, the Board of Realty Regulation adopted a new regulation prohibiting brokers from offering rebates, gifts, or promotional items to their clients. In response to an investigation by the Antitrust Division, the Board decided in April 2008 to reverse the rule and allow brokers to offer rebates to their customers.
